An updated white paper on the expanding use of ultrasound imaging in physical therapy has just been released in Frontiers in Musculoskeletal Disorders. This paper was 3 years in the development and was a collaborative effort by ACEWM's NMSKUS SIG and the Imaging SIG for AOPT.
This paper provides the current standing of ultrasound imaging and opportunities that span from MSK to cardiovascular, pulmonary, pelvic health, pediatric and other areas of practice. It brings together the growing evidence for ultrasound as an extension of the PT's clinical examination and explores how it enhances clinical reasoning, decision making and management.
